Olive & June Spring just released a new collection of Quick Dry Colors for Spring/Summer 2023 and I’m here to share my swatches and review of the new collection!! The colors are so fun and I’m going to be talking about each color, what it was like to paint it, comparisons and my overall thoughts!

TWO QUICK NOTES!
MY GEL + REGULAR POLISH HACK!
Have you heard about my favorite hack for wearing all of my regular polishes while keeping my nails protected and helping them grow longer? Plus my nails are never stained from regular polish, I don’t have ridges, and my nails never peel?? The secret is *clear builder gel*!
I wear a thin layer of clear builder gel under my nails most days to give my nails are super smooth, plump surface. It gives my nails so much strength so they can grow out without being bendy, I truly can hit them on anything and they won’t break, and they’re never stained from regular polish. It’s THE BEST! This collection has two different segments of colors: shimmery/sparkly/sheer and BOLD! I have a few favorites from the collection and I’m really excited to see some of my favorite long lasting colors reformulated into this quick dry formula!! LET’S GET INTO IT!
SWATCHES:
SHIMMERY/SHEER:
SANDY
This is a beachy sheer neutral polish and it’s basically the twin of EC or CHM - It has a little more color payoff than EC in my opinion but it’s not quite as warm as CHM. I LOVE IT!

POTPOURRI:
This is an effortless sheer mauve and it’s literally The Queen Takes Her Tea With Milk but quick dry. If you know me, you know I LOVE TQTHTWM. It’s pretty much the only base coat I use for nail art when I want a neutral sheer look!! I’m so excited about this one!

BAROQUE:
This polish is a pinky shimmery neutral sheer. O&J said it’s a white polish but I think it leans more neutral personally. It would be really pretty topper, but it looks really nice on it’s own too! I’m loving shimmery chrome manicures still so this one is really great! It’s probably most similar to Frosted Gloss but FG leans more blue/green and this one has more pinky/purple shimmers!

FAIRY:
This is an iridescent shimmer with a clear base. It’s super pretty on its own but would also be a great topper on one of your favorite colors that you want to make shimmer!! This color is most similar to Cosmic, however I feel like Cosmic has only silvery/white shimmer, and this one is more iridescent so it has that pinky/purpley/blue hint to it! If you love Cosmic, you’ll love this one too!

CHARMING:
Charming is a jelly periwinkle polish with gold shimmer added! I feel like this is a perfect polish for the Taylor Swift concert if you’re a Speak Now era lover. It’s so pretty!! It looks a little bit jelly initially, so if you do a few coats, it’ll be more opaque! I believe I did 2 coats, but 3 would make it look fully opaque. I don’t really think there is a similar color to this in the existing o&j catalogue, so if you’re looking for something super unique, this is a great one to get!

THE BOLDS:
JACARANDA:
This is a light lavender polish! Also it’s a tree, I had no idea what this word was so I had to look it up lol. This polish is not as sheer as Lavender Stems from the Spring Collection, but it has a similar hue! It’s probably most similar to You’re Invited from last spring, but not quite as milky! If you love lavender polishes, this one is so good! Plus, it dries super fast whereas some of their pastels take a while to dry. Highly recommend this one!!

MELON:
This is a cantaloupe melon creamy opaque polish. I love these types of colors in the warmer seasons! This one seems really similar to Wild & Free but maybe slightly more orange!

PARAKEET:
This is an electric turquoise blue polish!! I really like this one, it’s so fun and bright plus it’s sooo easy to paint with!! This one reminds me alot of Lawn Games from the Stony Clover x O&J collab! So if you missed out on that, definitely pick this polish up! It’s slightly similar to Yes Please also, but I think this one has a more “electric/bright” quality to it. If you love Yes Please, this one is definitely different enough to add to your collection as your summer version of the winter favorite!!

TAFFY:
This is a sweet bright pink opaque creamy polish! This polish is a pretty standard pink in my opinion, it doesn’t excite me that much but I still really like it - if that makes sense! It reminds me of JM, because it’s a slightly purple learning pink polish. If you like JM, I think you’ll like this one because it’s so easy to paint with and dries so far - as the name states ;)

ROYAL:
This is a regal deep purple polish! This polish is very bold and I love the shade. It’s so similar to Bold & Unshaken from the Summer 2020 collection (which is one of my favorite of their summer collections ever) so it was an instant favorite of mine. It’s a really unique shade of purple, so if you don’t have B&U, this one should definitely be added to your collection!

POMODORO:
This is a tomato-pink polish - aka a coral-y red pink! These shades are some of my favorite, I feel like they just look great on every skin tone, and the formula is really opaque and easy to paint with. It looks so great with two coats! This is very similar to Hibiscus from the 2021 Spring collection (another one of my all time fave collections!!) so it’s definitely one of my faves from this new launch.

LOLLIPOP:
This is a classic juicy cherry red polish! It’s definitely a classic red which has a time and place for wearing, but I usually don’t choose this type of color for some reason even though I love it! This color is super bright and pigmented, and so shiny! It’s very similar to CV or ES but it’s noticeably thinner in consistency. I think it still looks great and it’s very easy to paint! I’ll also take this moment to tell you that I loved the Emily Schuman Cupcakes & Cashmere x OJ collection as well!! If you haven’t seen that one, definitely check it out!

MY OVERALL THOUGHTS:
Favorite Sheer: Charming or Potpourri
Facortite Bold: Pomodoro or Parakeet
A bunch of these colors are similar to their long lasting line, even if they’re not exact dupes. The most unique color in my opinion is Charming! So if you’re looking for something you definitely don’t have, that would be my pick! Even if you have some of the long lasting colors, I think this formula is really great and the ease of painting the polish plus how fast it dries makes it a great option for a quick manicure when you’re in a hurry!
