Olive & June Spring 2023 Collection Review, Swatches & Comparisons!

Olive & June Spring is here!! I am SO excited about this fun farmer’s market themed collection and I can’t wait to share all of my thoughts with you about these polishes so let’s get right into it! I’m going to be talking about each color, what it was like to paint it, comparisons and my overall thoughts!

TWO QUICK NOTES!

Have you heard about my favorite hack for wearing all of my regular polishes while keeping my nails protected and helping them grow longer? Plus my nails are never stained from regular polish, I don’t have ridges, and my nails never peel?? The secret is *clear builder gel*!

I wear a thin layer of clear builder gel under my nails most days to give my nails are super smooth, plump surface. It gives my nails so much strength so they can grow out without being bendy, I truly can hit them on anything and they won’t break, and they’re never stained from regular polish. It’s THE BEST! Here are some links if you’re interested in learning more:

My FAVE Clear Builder Base – It’s so shiny and makes my nails SO strong

My NEW Gel Manicure 1.0 Masterclass Tutorial Course – If you’re new to gel manicures or can’t seem to perfect your at-home process, you NEED to watch this.

My Builder Gel Application Course – My exact process for applying builder gel. It’s so much easier than you think. Once you watch this, you’ll be a pro in no time!

My NEW Dry Manicure Prep Course – Prep is KEY for making your manicures last. This is my brand new Dry Manicure course where I go into detail on how to prep your nail surface, how I do my cuticle care + nip my cuticles, and how I shape my nails. This works for both regular and gel manicures!

Secondly: One quick desperation minute from myself!! I’m so glad you love these reviews and I hope you find value in them! If you plan on buying anything from O&J (even if it’s not from this blog post),  I would really appreciate if you used my LINK here. It costs you nothing, but it tells the brand that you came from my content and helps support me and the time that it takes for me to make these posts :) This is my full time job now and any support is GREATLY appreciated! This goes for any content creator that you follow as well!! It helps us grow and tells the brand that we are really driving sales/traffic for them :) ok lets get into the post!!

This collection is super springy and reminiscent of fresh spring produce and it’s SO fun! There are three jelly polishes, which means they are pigmented sheers, and have a very sheer / see through consistency. You can make them more pigmented with more coats, however they aren’t going to look fully opqaue/creamy like their other polishes usually look. There are also three cream finish polishes which are pretty standard compared to other colors from their collection! Ok let's get into it!!

Check out my full review & swatch video on my Youtube channel here! And be sure to subscribe while you're at it!! :) I highly suggest watching this for a better idea of the comparisons and swatches - my lighting was a little funky in the photos :)

SWATCHES:

THE JELLIES:

Strawberries Are In Season Right Now

This is a jelly hot pink and it’s by far my favorite of the entire collection! I LOVE jelly looking polishes because I think they are just super interesting and unique, and this color really wowed me.

Coats: 3 coats

Difficulty to paint: Easy!!

Comparisons: There really isn’t a similar dupe to this color since it’s a jelly although there are similar pinks if you wanted a creamy finish.

Lavender Stems:

This polish is a sheer lavender and it’s gorgeous!! I think this one is going to be a fan favorite because it’s pretty neutral in terms of being a really light color, and it’s super easy to work with since it’s sheer!

Coats: 3 coats

Difficulty to paint: Easy!!

Comparisons: I think this one is similar to You’re Invited from last spring, however it has a sheer finish, so it’s unique in that sense!

This Lettuce Is Radicchio:

This polish is a sheer magenta! I really love this one too, it’s a little more muted than SAISRN, but still a super fun purple jelly!

Coats: 3 coats

Difficulty to paint: Easy!!

Comparisons: I think this one is most similar to TLG but again, it’s sheer!

THE OPAQUES:

Berry Basket:

This is a creamy light blue/turquoise leaning polish! It’s very creamy but I think it’s easier to apply than some of the O&J’s pastels! I really love how this one turned out and I think it’ll be so fun for pedicures!

Coats: 2 coats

Difficulty To Paint: Medium difficulty

Comparisons: I think the most similar color to this was Honest & True, but H&T has sort of a thinner consistency, where as I thought this one had a very creamy one.

Carrot Juice:

This is a creamy light orange/coral leaning color! I really how this one painted, it was smooth and very nice to work with!

Coats: 2 coats

Difficulty to paint: Medium

Comparisons: I think this one is most similar to Glow, but the consistency is definitely creamier! Because of this, I think it’s easier to paint with because the color doesn’t come off very streaky like some other creams can!

Not Kale:

This is a creamy chartreuse green polish. It’s a very yellow leaning green which is sometimes not for everyone. I think it’s a fun color that I will definitely use in nail art, but I don’t think I love it on myself as a full manicure! I also found it to be a little hard to paint with but it wasn’t impossible! I almost thought this one was *too* creamy, but I probably should have just waited longer in between coats!

Coats: 2 coats

Difficulty to paint: Medium/Difficult - I thought this one was the hardest to paint. I think the polish is very creamy, so you want to make sure that you let each coat dry really well before doing another one!

Comparisons: I think this one is most similar to Energize, but much more yellow! It’s pretty unique in terms of the O&J collection!

MY OVERALL THOUGHTS:

Favorite Sheer: Strawberries Are In Season Right Now

Facortite Opaque: Carrot Juice

Favorite Overall: Strawberries Are In Season Right Now!!!

If you could only get one color and you’re interested in jellies, I highly recommend getting one of them! They’re really easy to work with, dry quickly, and they are super shiny and make your nails look plump and beautiful! If you have some staining on your nails, you might want to use a coat of their ridge filler or brightener to neutralize it because it will likely show through unless you do 3-4 coats!

SOME HOUSEKEEPING:

If you love how my fingernails are shaped and prepped, you should check out my manicure prep course where I go IN DEPTH into my prep process with every single step and tool I use on myself and on clients.

If you love how I painted my nails and you want to know all of my secrets to painting perfectly, might I suggest my painting course?! I have heard from some of you that your nails truly never looked better even after watching lots of other classes and tutorials!
