Sugar Magnet Nails For Spring!

Hello & happy MAY!! I did such a springy manicure for this week’s installation of On My Nails This Week and I used a new collection that I am super excited about!

Last week, I went to NYC for a lovely long weekend and I did these nails for my trip! My fatal flaw is that I wait until the literal last second to do my nails before trips when I easily could have done them earlier 😮💨 and this was no exception. So I decided to challenge myself to see if I could do this manicure in under 2 hours…

Watch the full manicure process & see if I completed the time challenge!

How To Nail This Look!

Not gonna lie, I did my nails pretty recently before this manicure, so it didn’t require too much cuticle prep or shaping. I just removed my previous manicure, did a quick prep, and then applied my base & builder base gel! Instead of my normal bottled builder gel, I used clear potted builder gel. Crazy, right?! I like using it sometimes because you can reallyyyy control how much product you’re using at one time and it can be nice to kind of customize that feature depending on how long or short the nails are.

Sugar Bubble Polishes!

These are the star of the show!!! This is a new collection from Yogurt Nail Kr. (from Sweetie Nail Supply), which is one of my favorite brands for magnet gels and color gels. They always have the best syrups or unique glitter combos or something new and fun to try!

This new collection has eight multidimensional magnet glitters that each have silvery micro magnetic glitter, chunky crystallized sugar glitter, and rainbow shimmer, so as you can probably imagine, the result is stunning! Especially in the sun.

I also added a little sequins butterfly to each nail. Cute but SO annoying to deal with. If you’ve ever used sequins, I’m sure you know what I mean. They are just ever so slightly thick and stick up from your nail so you need to encapsulate them in the top coat or another layer of builder gel. I opted to do top coat, which works pretty well! But it’s just very soft and runny and you need to work quickly so it can be tricky! I explained it more in the youtube video above if you want to see!

Everything I Used For This Look:

  1. Kokoist Mega Stick Base Soft Gel

  2. Nail Thoughts Clear Builder Base

  3. Nail Thoughts Detailer & Application Brush

  4. Yogurt Nail Kr Sugar Bubble Collection

  5. Butterfly Sequins

  6. Kokoist Ultra Glossy Top Coat

So… What Did I Learn From This Challenge?

It was a total fail 😂 If I were to try this again and I was truly in a time crunch (even though I kind of was this time but you get where I’m coming from), I would probably do a tinted builder base from Nail Thoughts and a top coat and no art or color or anything fancy. Obviously less products = less time, but when I finished my builder base in this manicure, I had about 30 minutes left so I could have easily completed the challenge! BUT overall I think this manicure was worth the time because I still have it on and I still love it soo much!!!

What’s next?!

I wanted to do this OMNTW challenge for the month of April and it was so fun! I think I’m going to keep up with it and mix in some other regular programming too and mix in some new things as well! I’m going to the Oregon Nail Expo this weekend (is anyone else going!?) and I’m planning to use some new Kokoist launches beforehand that launch on 5/5 that I cannot wait to share!! 🤭 I also absolutely need to figure out what to do on my nails for my engagement photos!!! I’m excited!

See you soon!!!
