Q&A! E-File Gel Removal & Manicure Prep

Q: Why do I love my e-file? What do I use it for?
A bunch of reasons!!
First off - I use my e-file for gel manicure removal & manicure prep! I like to think of the e-file as just a step in my prep process. But also, the e-file:
- Allows me to do a fully dry manicure
- Helps me do a QUICK & efficient gel manicure
- Allows me to keep a thin layer of base gel on my nail surface, and gives my nails additional protection!
- Cuticle bits allow you to get extremely precise and can help with longevity
- Takes a little bit of practice, but once you get the hang of it, you will love it!
Q: Is it hard to use?
Short answer, no. Long answer, I don't think anyone should use the e-file without learning how to properly use it to safely execute a manicure! This part is SO important because it's possible that you can cause some serious (and painful) damage to your nails if you don't know what you're doing! With that said, I've been using mine consistently for over a year now, and I'm SO glad that I put in the time & effort to learn how to use it because it has been AMAZING for my nails.

Q: How do you know when you're getting close to your nail when filing off the gel & leaving a thin layer?

Q: Should I be worried if I accidentally went through my base layer in a few small spots when filing?
If you filed your natural nail and caused any damage, just be super gentle with it when filing to help it heal. In the future, if you're worried about getting to low on your nail and hitting it, just stop with e-file and move on to buffing or hand filing. I always recommend being super cautious and quitting while you're ahead to avoid any trouble!
