Olive & June Spring 2022 Collection Review, Swatches & Comparisons! 🍓

Olive & June Spring is here!!!!! I am SO excited about this collection and I can’t wait to share all of my thoughts with you about these polishes so let’s get right into it! I’m going to be talking about each color, what it was like to paint it, comparisons and my overall thoughts!

Have you heard about my favorite hack for wearing all of my regular polishes while keeping my nails protected and helping them grow longer? Plus my nails are never stained from regular polish, I don’t have ridges, and my nails never peel?? The secret is *clear builder gel*!

I wear a thin layer of clear builder gel under my nails most days to give my nails are super smooth, plump surface. It gives my nails so much strength so they can grow out without being bendy, I truly can hit them on anything and they won’t break, and they’re never stained from regular polish. It’s THE BEST! Here are some links if you’re interested in learning more:

One quick desperation minute from myself!! I’m so glad you love these reviews and I hope you find value in them! If you plan on buying anything from O&J (even if it’s not from this blog post),  I would really appreciate if you used my LINK here. This goes for any content creator that you follow as well!! It helps us grow and tells the brand that we are really driving sales/traffic for them :) ok lets get into the post!!

PS: Anything that's underlined is a link!

First off, this collection is Tea Party themed, so it’s full of really pretty muted bright colors and gorgeous sheers. The Spring mani system comes with all 6 polishes (or 1 if you don’t want all 6), all of the tools to get your best mani at home, a limited edition mint color poppy, a floral print silicon pouch to store your tools (or your kindle, in my case :)), and the super pretty floral box!!

The Spring collection features SIX new colors, four opaque shades and two new sheers. Let’s get into them!

ONE QUICK NOTE: I wanted to say that I think this collection is really unique in terms of comparisons to other existing colors in OJ’s current repertoire. Are they similar to other colors, sure! But in terms of getting a color where you’re like “is it even different at all?!” You won’t have that happening here. It’s so exciting to get totally new colors and I really love this collection for that!

Another note: Golden Afternoon and You’re Invited are LIMITED EDITION! I have no idea how long they will last, so make sure to pick them up if you like them!

SWATCHES:

The Sheers:

The Queen Takes Her Tea With Milk:

This is a sheer mauvey, neutral polish and wowwow omg I love it! It has more pigment in it than CCT or CHM in my opinion, and I love how it looks with 2 coats. I usually have to do 3 coats of CCT or CHM to get a pigmented sheer color, but this one only took 2 coats to get this look! I am also wearing ridge filler underneath because ridge filler + a sheer is the perfect match made in heaven :) This color is sheer but it gives off jelly vibes in the best way! I’m obsessed.

Coats: 2 coats

Difficulty to paint: Easy!!

Comparisons: I compared this to CHM and CCT, two other sheers. Like I said I think this is much more pigmented. If you love either of those, you will love this one!

Strawberry Scone:

This polish is a sheer pink but again has way more pigment than CCT, so it gives off a jelly strawberry milky look. I LOVE IT SO MUCH! I basically echo everything I said above with this polish, but with pink :)

Coats: 2 coats

Difficulty to paint: Easy!!

Comparisons: I compared this to CCT, but CCT almost looks clear with two coats compared to it. This will be my go-to easy, jelly, sheer polish now! SO perfect for a nail art base and looks amazing on its own too!

The Opaques:

Golden Afternoon:

This is a marigold yellow polish!! It’s so beautiful. I’m not a huge yellow lover, but this one has a really wearable quality that I like. It applies really nicely and I think it will be amazing for nail art too!! Hello florals :)

Coats: 2 coats

Difficulty To Paint: Medium difficulty

Comparisons: I compared this to JLR and Lemony Lemon. JLR is super pastel, so this one looks much more saturated and bright next to it. Lemony Lemon is so bright that it makes Golden Afternoon look super GOLD (crazy how that works!). I also totally forgot to compare this to Bright & Focused in these photos, but that one is a little brighter version of JLR, and Golden Afternoon looks like a true gold next to it!

You’re Invited:

This is a true lavender polish! It is PRETTY!!! I love purples and this one is no exception. One thing I really like about this polish is that it toes the line between pastel and bright. I prefer bright colors usually, but I don’t think this color is so bright that it will turn off pastel lovers! It’s so creamy and beautiful!

Coats: 2 coats

Difficulty to paint: Medium

Comparisons: I compared this to Cockatoo and Fierce & Loving. Cockatoo looks almost like a greyer lavender compared to You’re Invited while Fierce & Loving looks like more of a pinky lilac color. I think these would make a cute ombre mani!! But like I said, You’re Invited is truly unique compared to the other similar purples!

Cucumber Sandwich:

This is a sagey opaque muted green polish! I say it’s muted because it doesn’t read very bright to me like other greens do. I really like this quality about it. It’s like Golden Afternoon, where I’m like “would I wear a green polish?” but then I put it on and I’m like “100% I would wear this!” It’s really pretty. I love how creamy and chic it looks! It doesn’t lean very yellow which I love!

Coats: 2 coats

Difficulty to paint: Medium/Difficult - I thought this one was the hardest to paint. I think the polish is very creamy, so you want to make sure that you let each coat dry really well before doing another one!

Comparisons: I compared this to Energize and KMC. Energize is more of a creamy matcha latte color (also fitting for this collection!), and KMC is like a pastel mint. I find these polishes to be different enough from each other that you could also make this a cute ombre mani!

Jam, Please:

Ok I’m saving the best for last!!! This color, O M G. It’s by far my favorite of the collection. It’s so bright and amazing and unique! One of my favorite Essie colors that I used to wear ALL THE TIME was A Splash of Grenadine and this gives me these vibes but in a brighter and better way! It’s just the best. I’m going to make this my go-to color for a quick spring mani! And I can’t wait to do nail art with it!!

Coats: 2 coats

Difficulty to paint: Medium

Comparisons: I compared this to TLG, Wild Orchid and Grape Soda. There really is no comparison though because I don’t think any of the colors look like Jam, Please! They do make a cute ombre though lol. Wild Orchid looks like a bright magenta next to it, TLG looks like almost a brown purple, and Grape Soda is more neon. You need this one!!! :)

MY FAVES:

I always like to include this when I do a review but it’s so hard now!! For sheers, I think Strawberry Scone is my top choice. It reminds me of my favorite Kokoist Tinted Base Gel in Strawberry Milk which I talked about in my blog post last week. And this one really has a great jelly effect. If you love the look of jelly gel nails, you will LOVE this one! The Queen Takes Her Tea With Milk also reminds me of Berry Base from Kokoist, which I love, so I’m excited to have a regular polish dupe now!!

For opaques, we all know Jam, Please is my JAM!!! It’s so pretty. Just look at it 😍
