I Did My Own Wedding Makeup 👰🏻♀️
I decided I was going to do my own wedding makeup pretty much the same time I got engaged. I feel like I never *love* how I look when I get it done and it just felt like something I could practice and do well myself.
So last year during the Sephora sale, I went HAM and bought a bunch of makeup, practiced using it the rest of the year, and then also got the Makeup by Kelli Anne Bridal Tutorial (I also used her rehearsal dinner look tutorial the night before) and practiced both looks a few times. I can’t recommend her tutorials enough!!! They remind me of my nail tutorials tbh: they’re in real time and so easy to follow along, and she breaks down each step so you can copy exactly what she’s doing.
I love everything I used for my wedding/the night before/also my engagement photos, and I still use the products today. I wanted to share a list of everything I got and recommend in case you’re a bride or you just want to pick up some new products while they’re on sale at Sephora. I also mixed in a bunch of drugstore things that I’ll link too!! If you have any questions, let me know!
Sephora sale info: Up to 20% off if you use code EVERYTHING until 11/10! Buying all of these things bumped me up the VIP tier this year lol. I’m not sure exactly what I’m going to buy yet. I’m thinking I might get a bigger version of the perfume I wore for the wedding because I only got the travel size before and maybe this cream - it looks amazing for anti-aging!!
Ok let’s get into what I used for the wedding day!
Skin Prep:
I learned the importance of this from Kelli Anne. You really need a hydrated base so the makeup lays well and lasts all day. These are the things I used!
Face Products:
These are all cream/liquid products (except one!). I now know the importance of layering creams and powders to make the look last all day.
My top top favorite things I got for this were the glowy primer (it’s not sparkly, but literally makes my skin glow and also fills in fine lines and pores so the makeup lays well) and the concealer (it’s a serum-y concealer so it blends flawlessly. It’s kind of a splurge 😳 but it might be the best concealer I’ve ever tried).
Concealer - My favorite product I got out of everything!!!
Cheeks & Eyes:
After using the cream products, I moved on to powders to add dimension and it also helps set all of the previous products!
Eyeshadow - Patrick Ta (it has the BEST shimmer eyeshadow that I use all the time. There’s a mini version here too!)
Eyeshadow - Elf
Sweed False Eyelashes - These looked sooo natural
Brow Pen - This is also one of my favorite finds! The tip is so thin and you can draw really realistic looking strokes!
Finishing Touches:
The setting spray is crucial for longwear makeup!! And I’m obsessed with the Cyklar Naked Neroli lotion, it smells soo summery and fresh and lasted all day too!
Liquid Lipstick - this was matte but didn’t feel dry!
Lipgloss (in dip) - I need this color in a builder gel color, it’s so pretty
Cyklar Naked Neroli Body Lotion - this smells like jasmine and citrus and it’s just so subtle and fresh and amazing. I am obsessed with everything Cyklar does, I have so many of their scents 😂
Juliette Has A Gun - Pear Inc (this smells like you just showered mixed with musky undertones. I love it!!!)
Hair:
I also did my own hair and I was pleasantly surprised at how shiny it looked! The It’s a 10 blowout kit was instrumental in helping with the shine for sure!
It’s a 10 Blowout Spray & Smoothing Spray and Oil
Nails:
In case you wanted to also see what I used for my nails! I also did an entire post about how I prepped my nails for my wedding and how I actually applied the products!
A few other questions I got were about what I was wearing!
Dress: I got it at Nordstrom, it’s the brand Avec Les Filles but it’s not available anymore. I really liked the idea of doing a dress with an overlay of some sort and I thought this one was really pretty and also comfy! I really didn’t want to get a traditional wedding gown so I just ordered a bunch of dresses online and I’m so happy with how everything turned out!
Shoes: I wore these ones from Nordstrom!
Jewelry: I did an entire post about my rings! I also wore this bezel tennis bracelet that I fell in love with and still wear all the time from Amazon (and it’s such a good price), and this little bezel bracelet from Quince. I am such a bezel gal now!!
Ok that’s about all, but if you have any other questions about anything, let me know!!
Be back soon with an email all about nail inks!!
BYE! 💋
