Glass Nails For Spring!
HELLO! Happy almost official spring! I am sooo ready for some warmth and sun and flowers. I planted a bunch of tulips and daffodils in the fall and I’m (not so) patiently waiting for them to bloom. I’ll definitely post a photo here once they arrive (bc I’m definitely going to do floral nails soon) :) Anyways… since it’s almost spring, today’s post is going to be about spring nails of course, but specifically glass nails for spring.
I did another post about glass nails in the fall/winter time (check it our here if you want to!) and I thought I needed to try this again for the spring featuring some pastel colors. In case you’re unfamiliar with glass nails, let me briefly explain what they are!
Essentially, glass nails are nails that look glassy - almost like a marble or like they’re encapsulated in glass. They have dimension, and they’re shiny/shimmery! There are many ways to achieve this look, but generally it’s done by layering polishes to create dimension. In each look I did for today, I did a clear base coat, a base color, a magnet gel, a syrupy sheer flash glitter gel, and then an overlay with my top coat which I think gives the nails a really nice dimension and allows the colors underneath to pop.
Before we get into all of the combos, make sure to check out my new YouTube video where I go in depth about how I did this lavender glass nails look (including how I do fills with clear polish, cuticle work, changing my shape, how to layer the polish, and an overlay trick to make them look super extra glassy! + links to the products I used in the description):
And here are some new combos that I came up with for spring!
Butter Yellow 🧈:
I’ve noticed that butter yellow is trending for spring and I think this is such a fun color on nails!! But in my opinion, to really nail this color, it needs to be perfectly bright to look buttery, but not SO bright that it looks like a tennis ball - it’s a fine line :) This would also be really pretty as a lighter or brighter yellow, but I really tried to make it look buttery, and I think I succeeded! This is what I used:
Base color: Kokoist - E330 Lemon Butter (a perfect creamy buttery bright yellow)
Magnet Glitter: DVOK - White Night DM23 (I didn’t have a yellow magnet glitter, so I thought this peachy color with sunset colored glitter would be perfect!! But if I had to recommend a yellow magnet gel, it would definitely be this Valla byulling byulling one!! It’s sooo dreamy, I want it :))
Flash Glitter + Top Coat: Nail Thoughts Glistening Flash Top Coat (I just did my overlay with this top coat since I didn’t have a buttery flash glitter gel color - Need to look for this too!)
Pastel Pink 🌸:
In addition to butter yellow, I’ve seen so many people wearing baby pink for spring too! Less crazy, but still a fun and classic color for spring nails! To make the baby pink pop a little extra for this manicure, I used a sheer pink flash glitter polish that I really loved!! (I will say the gif is making it look a little darker than it is IRL so just trust me lol)
Base color: Butter Syrup - BTS.05 (I think syrup gels are perfect for glass nails because they are slightly sheer but still help the magnet gel pop on top!)
Magnet Glitter: Kokoist - Strawberry Water Magnet Glitter (a baby pink magnet gel with white super small silky magnet particles in it)
Flash Glitter: Nail Thoughts - Tourmaline Flash (this is a bright but still baby pink sheer syrup gel with flash glitter! I think it looks soo good on top of strawberry water!)
Top Coat: Kokoist - Ultra Glossy Non Wipe Top Coat
Baby Blue 🦋:
For the last one, I did baby blue! I reallyyy loved the magnet + syrup gel combo on this one, I think it’s a perfect sky color!
Base color: Valla - Surfer VS15 (a milky syrupy baby blue)
Magnet Glitter: Kokoist - Indigo Water Magnet Glitter (a baby blue magnet gel with white magnet particles that are suppppperrr small so you get a really silky finish)
Flash Glitter: Nail Thoughts - Sapphire Flash (a baby blue sheer gel with flash glitter! it really helps the indigo water POP too just like the pink combo above!)
Top Coat: Kokoist - Ultra Glossy Non Wipe Top Coat
I hope you lovee these combos and try them out or try out some layering combos with your existing collection! If you try this look, I’d love to see! You can send me a photo via IG DM or email me :)
BYE! 💋
